Reverse Sensors for Hyundai Models

Hyundai Accessories has released Reverse Sensor kits for current Getz, Accent, Elantra, Sonata SLX, Tucson and Santa Fe models, a boon to ease parking in tight confines for drivers of these models as well as enhancing safety when reversing.

Each model’s four sensors (two for Getz) are coloured-matched to the rear bumper in which they are mounted and they audibly monitor the proximity of objects unseen from the driver seat.

The sensors have three warning tones, a slow repeating ‘beep’ as the car closes from around 1.5 metres to 90 cm from whatever object is behind it, a faster pulsing beep as it backs up to around 45cm and then a continuous buzz for any closer proximity. The volume of the warning tones is adjustable to the driver’s liking.

Offering superior quality and reliability over aftermarket snip’n’solder generic kits, Hyundai Accessories’ kits use premium hardware and have wiring harnesses tailored for each Hyundai model so they simply plug into each car’s original factory loom. As such, they are covered for the five years of Hyundai’s industry-leading, fully transferable new car warranty.

The recommended retail prices of the sensor kits range from $389 for Getz to $520 for Santa Fe including GST but excluding fitting. Reverse sensors are standard equipment on Sonata Elite and Grandeur.

Hyundai Accessories, formerly Astrel Accessories, has a full range of extra goodies for Hyundai models, from a $13 auxiliary cable to play an iPod or other portable music player through Elantra’s speakers, to body kits and electric tilt/slide sunroofs.

Other catalog items include tow bar kits, roof and bike racks, car top storage boxes, alloy wheels and sports pedals, a 15-litre car fridge, various protective screens and more.

Factory options include the Protectz Pack for Getz and lower-series Elantra which adds potentially life-saving ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and TCS (Traction Control System), curtain and front-side thorax airbags depending on the model, making these models the two most affordable ESP-equipped five-seat cars on the market.
